My Students

Census data says that our county is one of the poorest counties in the state. However, what this county lacks in resources, it makes up for in pride and spirit. A typical day in my class resembles these sentiments. In the face of poverty, pride and spirit prevails.

My students span the spectrum of behavior and ability.

Some of my students are hardworking, self starters whose grades represent their dedication to their academics. Other students can be apathetic and unruly until they are given a concrete reason to change. A classroom of students is like a box of chocolates. You simply never what you are going to get. While my students may present me with uncontrolled variables, I offer them a constant. I offer them a constant opportunity to obtain an excellent education.

My Project

My students will use the requested materials to help them activate their agency in my classroom. The materials will help my students track their mastery of standards and objectives. Tracking helps students identify their areas of strength and weakness before and after quizzes and major tests. The folders will be used to keep tracking sheets organized. The colored pencils will help them track their progress by shading their mastery percentage. We began tracking early in the school year. Tracking the mastery of objectives and standards has even my most problematic students invested and engaged. However, due to a number of circumstances, students were not able to obtain the necessary materials to keep up with their tracking sheets. I am requesting hanging folders and file bins to keep in the classroom. Students will learn to take knowledge inventory so they can be prepared to quizzes and tests. They will also know what standards they have mastered before the standardized test.

Donations to this project will help students recognize their agency and began actively seeking to expand their intelligence.

Students will be able to track exactly what they know and exactly what they do not know. The skill of tracking can also be used when they are no longer in my classroom.
