This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Our students need to be physically active; it helps them learn and process information better, as well as make them healthier. My classroom aims to promote learning and lifelong fitness, to improve a child's life.

We, as a nation, are becoming increasingly unhealthy; diabetes, heart disease, and obesity are becoming major epidemics with our kids, and they are all preventable and controllable.

Our kids need to get active. We need to help them change their lifestyles! My students are Pre-Kindergarten through 5th grade. They attend an inner city elementary school. They are great students and love physical education. My students love to move and always enjoy the activities I do with them.

My Project

My students love technology, from cell phones to computers and everything in between. With this iWatch, I am hoping to merge their love of technology with Physical Activity. This watch is an advanced activity tracker. It records heart rate, steps taken flights climbed, and even more.

It is extremely powerful and motivating to see instant data about your physical activity.

Imagine having all that data at your fingertips. I would like my students to see the connection between the tracked data and their physical activity level. I believe it is important that students understand this relationship in order to achieve and maintain a healthy and active lifestyle.
