My Students
The students at our enjoy participating in our many physical fitness clubs including: Walking Club, Workout Warriors, Yoga Club, Girls Running Club, Boys Running Club, Jump Rope Club, Speedy Spartans, Team JAWS, and Climbing Club.
By offering a variety of clubs we meet the needs of children of all ability levels and interests.
We have built a culture of fitness and wellness over the last 7 years that has yielded a variety of personal, social, academic, and community benefits.
Close to 50% of our students participate in one or more physical activity clubs throughout the school year.
Our goal is to promote fitness and wellness and provide physical activity opportunities to help children achieve the recommended 60 or more minutes a day of physical activity.
My Project
The iPad will help us track the miles that the students walk for walking club and during the school day. We use a program called EZ Tally & EZ Scan that scan a QR code for each student as they complete laps before school, during down times at school or at recess. Our school iPads are old and outdated and many are broken. They have been replaced by other technology. For this reason, a new iPad would service the whole school as we compete in a 100 Mile Challenge this school year! Each student is challenged to walk, run or jog 100 miles this school year. As research has shown, increasing physical activity improves not only student health but also academic performance!
