I teach students in 6-8th grade. They are from diverse backgrounds and in a military community. Some of our students have seen the world by traveling with their family and others have never left the area. This gives us the opportunity to learn from one another and become better leaders.
My students are inquisitive and love exploring new technology.
They all have laptops issued by the school and use them in every class. The implementation of new technology has changed our school and allowed for more individualized instruction. This allows our students to be more engaged and allows the teachers to have more effective instruction. Our school is filled with creative staff and students. We work together to build a community focused on success.
My Project
My students use a process to work that includes creating thumbnail drawings, rough drafts, and final drawings. Sometimes, students struggle with translating an idea onto their good, final paper.
By utilizing light boxes, my students can trace their rough drafts in order to make more confident lines and better final compositions.
Light boxes are used by professional artists and illustrators as well as by students to create new and interesting works of art. This builds confidence in students and allows them to make works that are clean and free of erasure marks and mistakes. This gives a better end product and something that students can be proud of.
