Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

This year, I have the privilege of teaching two sets of the most fearless students I've met in 6 years of teaching. Despite the current challenge of teaching during a pandemic, my students arrive daily with an eagerness to learn that inspires me.

Our class college is Prairie View A&M University, and their motto is "Prairie View produces productive people".

Our goal is to develop skills that will aide us throughout the rest of our educational journey and beyond!

In the short time that I've been able to nurture my scholars, they have truly nurtured me. Their relentless work ethic, their endless craving to know more, their friendly competitive spirits that push themselves and their peers are only a few reasons why this group of scholars are special.

My Project

Our school utilizes the most rigorous curricula. However, we all are still adjusting and making up for time lost when we initially transitioned to virtual learning in March 2020. Although the curricula are rigorous, sometimes we need to address gaps that are preventing students from being successful with new content.

In order to develop well-rounded, successful students, we must provide a variety of resources to meet the needs of all students.

Teachers Pay Teachers is a well-known, widely used site to search for and purchase digital and print materials for students. The fascinating thing about Teachers Pay Teachers is that all of the resources available to be purchased are created by teachers around the world, who are also experiencing the impact of COVID on effective instruction. Therefore, the resources are usually effective, intentional, and extremely relevant and useful to what we are doing in class.

Furthermore, approximately 40 students are 100% virtual at this time. The digital resources are useful and help us to ensure that students are still practicing pertinent skills, even while at home.
