Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students attend a TK-5th grade, Title I low-income, school in the heart of San Diego, CA. 100% of the students receive free breakfast and lunch. The cultural diversity in my class encompasses students from almost every continent. Each student brings a heritage that further enriches their unique identity. I support students who receive special education services to support their academic and social-emotional performance. These students have mild-to-moderate disabilities, such as Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, Autism, and/or Learning Disabilities. My students have diverse needs and benefit from small group support to make progress towards the grade-level curriculum.

My students come to school hungry and wiggly, which impacts their ability to learn and focus.

My goal is to provide fidgets to help students with their attention, focus, sensory needs, and breaks. The toys will be given as rewards for expected behavior. Lastly, the snacks will be used to fuel their brains and sustain their bodies throughout the school day.
