This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students are an extremely diverse group. We are a Title I school which means we are a high poverty school and every student receives free breakfast and lunch. Class reading levels range from second grade to tenth grade within my 6th grade classes.

These children look to their teachers for so much more than a simple education.

They are struggling with the obstacles they face at home, as well as the limitations many of them have as a result of low reading levels. Many have never left the town in which they live. Getting our children to read will allow them to expand on their knowledge of the world around them even though they don't have the monetary ability to travel.

My Project

We are seeking a touchscreen computer to use in small groups in the classroom. This computer will help students to achieve while using the multiple reading programs available. They will be able to use reading programs, read books, create projects and more.

When given the needed materials, my students will have a better opportunity to learn.

A touchscreen computer in the classroom can be used by each and every kid in order to help them to grow and learn in language arts.

With this computer so many books will be available to them right at their fingertips. Creating projects will be so much more creative and up to date. The students will be having so much fun that they won't even realize that they are learning. Making education fun for the kids is important these days. We need to show them how learning can be achieved in so many new ways.
