Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are very bright dual language students in the 3rd grade! They strive to work hard every day in both English and Spanish instruction and come from very diverse cultural backgrounds. Having been together since Kindergarten, they are a close-knit group of kids who are eager and excited to tackle the third grade and continue their learning in both languages.
I've watched them grow into such great independent young learners.
They are the most responsible and caring students I've ever met. As their teacher, I can only take them as far as I can go with what we have available. They need to be supported with more opportunities to be independent, curious, and creative learners in our classroom.
My Project
Our classroom is not yet at the level technologically to meet my students' needs as learners. This project will help to close that gap just a little bit more. My students need access to technology that can accompany their learning in every subject in a meaningful way.
Behind the screens of these tablets is a world of possibilities, and you can help my students get there.
You can help bring invaluable opportunities to enrich our learning of my students through the use of touch screen tablets. There are numerous educational applications for math, science, social studies, and reading. They can record their observations or voice notes for a project. They can develop their fine motor skills and use the tablets for quick reference. This project will also reach the English language learners and Spanish language learners in our dual language classroom. They will help students students create news videos for their non-fiction units and conduct interviews. The new Fire tablets already have a space waiting for them in our classroom, you just have to help us get them in here! These six little tablets open up a world of possibilities that extend beyond the classroom.
