This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come from a variety of backgrounds from all over Ventura County. We are a public charter school whose mission is to foster global, independent, creative thinkers who are willing to take risks.

Student learning at our school is enhanced by a warm environment.

We strive to make the classroom feel like an extension of the home by filling the classroom with various aspects of home like lamps, wooden bookshelves, and inspirational signs.

Students feel at home in the classroom which allows them to take risks in their learning.

My Project

The warmth of our classroom will be enhanced by the addition of a tropical fish tank and another wooden bookshelf.

I want to enhance our classroom environment so that the first thing students feel upon entering is that this is a safe and comfortable environment for learning.

A warm environment is crucial for student learning. The more calm and safe students feel, the more likely they are to take risks in their learning. I have always striven to create a comfortable learning atmosphere that students feel the moment they step inside the classroom and these donations will help me continue to add to that feeling of comfort.
