We are a public choice school in Concord, CA. Parents and the community have committed to supporting their child's education by volunteering their time in and outside of the school and making education a priority. There is no question that our students are privileged to have such amazing support and perhaps one of the reasons we are one of the top 20% high performing public schools in California. However, we rely on time and energy, not money. Our wait lists are getting longer, and our school is becoming more and more wonderfully diverse.
Our students speak more than 27 languages within the school and in just my class we have children who speak English, Spanish, Japanese, Russian, Romanian and Vietnamese.
My Project
Every year school education is becoming more and more tech savvy, essentially requiring every teacher to use their personal mobile phone throughout the day. As teachers we are asked to communicate with our students, parents, and staff via email, Remind Texts, all day, everyday. Parents and staff members rely on texting to communicate directly and immediately with the classroom teacher and as a 1st grade teacher I'm always on the go. Whether its yard duty on the Blacktop, Motor skills in the MU, lunch in the cafeteria or just teaching all of my students in our own classroom, my students and I are always on the move. Our schedules change on a daily basis and I use my own phone to remind and alert me of who needs to be where throughout the day. The timer function helps to keeps us organized and on track with our ever busy, always fully filled days and staying on track means learning time is never lost or wasted.
An Apple Watch Series 5 (GPS) is a like a mini-assistant that is attached to a teacher's wrist!
It will help me run my daily classroom schedule with ease, making me more available for my students, and provide immediate feedback to my students, as well as their parents. I will always have Quick and Clear Communication from the office staff, colleagues and the Principal allowing me to be up to date on all information, including all safety updates.
