My students are all such kind, sweet, caring, creative, and hilarious little bundles of joy that love to explore and learn. Our classroom is a very loving, supportive environment that focuses on building positive relationships, modeling appropriate behavior, and working towards mastering academic standards.
My students have been identified as having emotional/behavioral disorders, Autism, and/or an intellectual disability.
Most of my students come from low-income households, have traumatic backgrounds, and are in unique living situations. It is my job (and pleasure) to ensure that my students learn the skills that they need.
My Project
The materials I am requesting are to assist in supporting and building upon my students’ reading skills. Many of my students struggle with reading due to lack of skill or lack of interest and require engaging books that pull them in. Exposure and practice is the key to helping my students perfect their reading skills.
These books will become a major part of our everyday routine if this project is funded - being the first activity that the students are engaged in at the beginning of the day.
This year, comics are of high interest to my students and will undoubtedly enhance their morning reading experience as well as encourage them to read not only for academics but for fun as well. Please help us by donating!
