Our students love to come to computer lab. Whether they are learning to type, write a story, practicing math facts or doing research, they are always excited to get started and especially love trying out a new technical skill.
Our computer lab is a special place where our students come to learn the technical skills that they need in a digital world.
It is also a place for them to innovate, problem-solve and express themselves creatively.
My hope, with your help, is to provide access to different types of technology that students can experiment with and discover things about themselves and their own talents for problem-solving and creating.
My Project
We are building a Makerspace where students can come and use innovative tools to transform themselves! When students have the opportunity to choose a medium and create freely, they transform and expand their ability to problem-solve, to persevere, to think creatively and and ultimately transform and expand themselves. These confidence boosting activities create skills that will stay with them when they return to their classroom and are solving math problems, decoding text, or researching projects.
The tools we are asking for to be donated will allow students to program and problem-solve robot movement with Ozobots by drawing coding symbols and maps to "program the robots" to move, use spatial creative skills to create 3D objects from 2D concepts using 3D pens, and to use the Bloxel kits in creating and engineering stable structures.
All of these tools have directed instruction. Whether students work alone quietly or collaboratively with a friend, they will have choices about the materials they want to use for learning.
