I am honored to teach first grade in a class of 28 culturally diverse students from various backgrounds. My school has a 60 percent free and reduced-price lunch population. Our school is not Title I funded so many resources are left for the teacher to fulfill. I have many ESL and resource students.
Many of my students come from homes where money is tight.
Most families can't contribute to the classroom . It is difficult to keep up with the supplies for all my students myself. They deserve more to help them succeed.
My Project
Everyday I like to sharpen my students pencils so my students can start the day off right. This has become difficult when the sharpener does not work effectively. By having a heavy duty sharpener in the room all kids will be able to have access to sharp writing tools. Many of our headphones are so worn they are falling apart. New headphones will let my kids be able to listen to literature read alouds.
Basic tools can help make leaning easier.
A hanging dry erase board would help me teach my students when I model sentence writing in my small guided reading groups.
