My rambunctious group of 24 1st Graders are the cutest little bunch around. They love math, writing, listening to stories, playing games together, and reading books to each other. They come to school every day eager to learn and try new things.
We are a family.
Every year I work hard to teach my students that we are not just students in the same class or friends on the playground. We are school family. We protect each other, help each other, learn from each other, challenge each other, and most importantly-- are always kind to each other.
Our school is right in the middle of town, which has created a very diverse student population. We have students from all different backgrounds that share all different kinds of experiences, and we pride ourselves on celebrating the unique qualities each student brings to our school family every day.
My Project
We have so much fun and learning to cram into such a short day. When working with 6 and 7-year-olds, efficiency is key. Having name display trays for students to use to easily access their pencils, glue sticks, and math tools will help us maximize the time we have together.
My class this year absolutely adores writing.
They cannot get enough. As a result, I've implemented a bunch of new writing activities that they have the choice of working on. In order to give my students easy access to these exciting new writing activities, we need some better organization. The turn-in organizer would give us just that! Giving students a quick opportunity to grab a fun writing activity for the day will be paramount to our success and productivity throughout the day.
