My students have a need to be successful. We are the only high school in our community, so all of the students are required to attend our high school. We have many low-income students and students whose parents have been affected by the Covid pandemic.
Our community has struggled with the pandemic, and many times my students are required to stay at home to learn.
We are required to broadcast our classes to these at-home learners. Our math lessons are very interactive and hands-on. Right now, I have to use the camera on a Chromebook and it's difficult to include the students in the lessons.
My Project
We are teaching in person, but many of my students are still required to stay home. The current tools I have are helpful, but it is still difficult to teach a practical math lesson. These tools will help these students remain connected while required to be away.
The webcam and interactive whiteboard system will allow the students to see the instructions and examples.
AS THE TEACHER, the TV will let me see the students. The geometry set will help the students use their geometry tools to make practical constructions. The Nevada common core standards, HSG.CO.2 require students to make geometric constructions. I have provided geometry sets to the students, but I need a large set that can be used to show the correct constructions.
