Tools Precision Measurement

My Project

In my 3D Design and Fabrication class we are regularly working with semi-precision measurement using rulers and digital calipers. We create a lot of parts using CNC and manual milling. They are often close enough, but I think we can do better. I would like to take us to the next level and teach them precision measurement.

We will be learning to read Vernier scale calipers, use micrometers and work with a height gauge and granite block.

In industry, precision measurement is critical to manufacturing.

These tools will also be available to our robotics teams and students visiting the makerspace.
