Tools of Mass Creation: Remote Learning Painting Kits
Help me give my students the basic tools & materials they need to succeed in creating their art projects at home during their remote learning Painting 1 class. Without these materials, they will be unable to create!
I have the privilege of teaching high school studio art, drawing and painting classes in a quaint fishing town that has attracted artists such as Fitz Hugh Lane, Winslow Homer, John Sloan and Paul Manship, just to name a few. My students are deeply rooted in their marine heritage, inspired by the beauty of the ocean and dedicated to the stewardship of their land. While they are never at a loss for inspiration, we are constantly finding ourselves in a loss of materials. While this school is starting remote, and will most likely remain this way- each student is in a desperate need to have the materials needed to keep the great traditions of their land, and art alive.
My Project
Covid19 has brought to light how essential the arts are to schools as well as mental and emotional health. In my mission to keep art equitable and accessible, I am hoping to provide each student in my Painting 1 class with their "at home" painting kit.
During the pandemic in March, many of my students were left at home working without the necessary materials needed to create their own artwork.
As I gave basic assignments, I realized just how many students were without art materials in their home. As we start the school year remotely, they will once again need creative materials at home.
