Help me give my students the tools necessary to achieve success in the shop. BY students learning how to use grinders and other tools by helping prepare students to be able to do anything they are challenged.
My students learn to weld and work with wood in our Agricultural Mechanics and Engineering classes. My goal is to have every student prepared to enter the workforce without having to be taught on the job site. Students learn the basics of welding, woodworking, and operation of different machines used in both areas. Our equipment in the shop is either outdated or we do not have what we need. Our goal is to provide students with the opportunity to have an up-to-date shop so they can be confident in their career path.
My students are eager to learn ways of improving their education and experiences in using different types of machinery.
They are very passionate about what they do in the shop. They are always coming up with plans to build or create in the shop. My students work hard on their projects and have asked me many times for equipment they have seen in magazines or on the internet. Students here at school crave knowledge and experience to learn the operation of other equipment that we do not have. Many of the students have a desire to go work in a job-related field of welding and manufacturing.
My Project
We use power tools in the shop to construct many different types of wood and metal project. We at the school would like to supply every group with a cordless drill to use instead of having to wait on another group to finish or wait for the batteries to charge. We construct wood projects from birdhouses to picnic tables; we use the drills in our metal portion of the class to drill holes to be able to insert bolts and other items needed to complete the project. Having a couple of drills holds up students progress If we have more each group will be able to work at there own pace.
We strive to teach students skills that they can take with them to enter the workforce or operate them at home.
Students learn the proper method of operating power tools. One of the main lesson we do is safety and the operation of tool safety. Students will operate each tool to learn the proper method of use. By doing this, we allow hands-on learning, but at the same time teaching a skill that can be used in their lives the safe way.
