Tools Help Create Smart Minds

Help me give my students hands on tools/manipulatives such as word building tiles, ten frames, science puzzles, sentence build letters and words to assist build my students profound, personal understanding of each core.

My Students

Many of my 1st grade students came into my classroom spending most of kindergarten learning remotely, some attended in-person, and some never had the opportunity to be taught until now. Because of this, what I love about my students is their EXCITED attitude they have to learn. I know this sounds pretty cliche of me, but there really is no other way to describe my students. Come visit my classroom and you'll see what I mean. My students who come from so many various backgrounds share this one common thread every morning they enter my classroom. They are excited to be here and eager to learn.

My Project

These incredible resources/tools will be used in my classroom to teach and reteach my students through Centers and small group instructions and be used as a model for when I teach whole group teaching that my students missed out on during their remote learning at home. I keep trying new ways to teach my students who missed out on learning due to this pandemic and I believe these tools/manipulatives will be a great resource to help us catch up where we left off.

The STEM tools/manipulatives for Science, Math, Engineering, and Literacy such as Grow Window, Bridge Building Engineer Materials, Ten Frames, Puzzles will be able to do the following: enable my students to understand the links between the manipulatives and the STEM ideas they represent and will help make their learning as seamless as possible.

The Literacy tools/manipulatives: Sentence Building Box, Magnetic Story Board, Giant Sentence Build Cubes, Word Building Tiles, and the Word Family Flip Books can be used to promote reading and writing skills, particularly in the early stages of literacy development my students missed out on due to the pandemic. My students will use word cubes and tiles to build sentences or letter cubes during small groups to create words while isolating specific vowel sounds and consonant blends.

These tools/manipulatives will help build my students' confidence and make learning enjoyable and unforgettable as we work through this pandemic knowing there are alternatives and creative ways to teach my students and help them catch up and surpass their educational desires and goals. My students and future students are resilient and stronger for having gone through this pandemic. We will continue to move forward, trying each day to improve, and not allow this pandemic to stand in our way of gaining knowledge.
