My Students

My students are optimistic critical thinkers. I teach them science, but they teach me persistence, patience, and courage. All of my students come from low-income families. Because most of my students go through the same economic struggles at home, one of the most special characteristics of my classroom is that students work as a team to help each other learn the skills to understand the material.

My Project

When it comes to teaching science in an urban district, there are many struggles that teachers encounter. One of them is the low funding for technology, which has made it very difficult throughout virtual learning. This incredibly affects the learning experience of my students, especially for students of urban kids who already struggle at home with economic statuses, personal issues, and share rooms with siblings or other family members. These materials will make a difference in my students' learning experience because it will block the background noise I have from home. Unfortunately, I live with family and there are kids in my house as well. The background noise interrupts my teaching all the time. It makes it more difficult and annoying for students. The pen will help me write on my iPad to make the class more interactive and engaging.
