My students are in a low-income community. 100% of our students are receiving free lunch. That doesn't stop their desire to learn. My students have grit!
I have 24 wonderful students in my classroom who have a large range of abilities.
I have some students reading two words a minute and others reading 91 words a minute. While some students are learning to blend sounds, others can't put down the books.
My first grade students are the best and the brightest. We say this every day in our school to continue to build their confidence in their character.
My district requires students to have so many minutes of math and reading on a computer program we use at our school. It’s a great program that helps fill in missing gaps the students they may have. We have a few computers in the classroom that the students will use during center time. It is very necessary for them to have headphones during this time so they don’t disturb other learning centers. Some of the parents have purchased headphones for their children, but others cannot afford headphones to send. Our mice and keyboards are also very old and rarely work. It’s become difficult for the students to get all their time in if our materials are only working part of the time.
