Can you imagine being so frustrated with broken headphones in the library, that you bring your own?! Our young researchers have been very frustrated with the many broken headphones. Our library/computer lab is used by parents, teachers and students who need to access information in a quiet place.
Most of the students in my school are English Language Learners who love to dance, sing, act and participate in sports.
Each year, nearly 250 students audition for our Talent Show that showcases the best singers, dancers, actors, performers and poets that we have to offer. Our students are dedicated and talented. Many have won national awards and are supported by numerous local organizations that support their efforts. My students are also talented researchers, speakers and presenters! They love an opportunity to share their findings and always do it with style and professionalism. Each month many students take the opportunity to speak in front of their peers during grade assemblies. They are tech-savvy and know how to get the information they need to develop well-thought out research papers/presentations. The library's computer lab is a favorite spot in our school and our students are no strangers to using the resources that are available to them.
Without headsets for each computer, students find difficulty in completing their research and do not remain focused on the task. Students are taught how to find information on a topic. Many times kid-friendly websites include videos containing information pertinent to that topic. Headsets allow for each student to search the Internet without interruption. Over the years, students have resorted to bringing their own headsets to avoid interruption. Your donation will allow our young researchers to complete computer-related tasks.
Your donation will allow our English Language Learners to research independently and without interruption.
Headphones for each computer are essential to the proper function of the library/lab. Without them, learning cannot take place. You will help our students find success as they use the Internet to research and become college-ready.
