My students come in to my classroom every day excited to learn. They come from many different backgrounds and a variety of cultures but they are all eager to be successful and make a difference in the world. Each one has a vision for their future.
For many of my students, school is the most stable environment in their lives.
I teach in a Title I elementary school in Florida where the majority of students are on free or reduced-price lunch. Their living and family situations are not ideal but each one has a desire to learn and make someone proud.
Some students are in transitional housing, some live in homeless shelters or with multiple generations. Their individual needs may be different depending on the economic struggles they face but each day we work together to meet everyone's social emotional needs. My students have empathy, compassion and are kind. We are working to make the world a better place by learning together.
My Project
Around this time of year we tend to run low on some classroom supplies. With all our tagging as we read, writing about what we have read and sharing our ideas, our brains are growing! Pencils, post it notes, flags and index cards all help us share our ideas and organize our thoughts. We use dry erase boards for quick assessments as well as small group math and need some dry erase markers too.
By donating to this project, you will be helping students make their learning visible.
In our classroom this is a practice we use in all subject areas and these supplies will help us continue to be successful.
