Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are as diverse as the city of Houston, TX. I work with students who are autistic, learning disabled and those who are just learning to acquire the English language. Despite their challenges my students are some of the sweetest kids on the planet. They are hard workers and they do not let their challenges get in the way of their learning.
Our special education department works together to ensure that these students get access to the best education possible.
This is not always possible without the proper tools to support our students and their diverse needs. Our Special Education department has come together to create this project to not only help our students in their learning but to also provide incentives to help motivate our kids to go above and beyond. It is with your help can we can achieve this goal and provide the highest quality education.
We like to consider ourselves the underdogs of the school. We know what mighty power lies within each and every one of us and as a team, we will all reach heights no one ever expected.
My Project
The tools we are hoping to attain will allow us to support our students and their diverse needs. We have selected reading and writing tools to support our students with dyslexia and dysgraphia. We are also requesting some sensory toys to help our students with ADHD to stay focused and attentive in class. The snacks requested will be our motivation tool to help our students with incentive based learning. The headphones will assist students who are not yet able to read on their own use technology to follow along with audio books. Our special education department handles many sensitive documents and we need a shredder to ensure they are properly handled. All of the tools selected will help us better serve our students needs and make sure they are reaching all of their goals.
