My Students

Our students come from many different backgrounds, and they enjoy celebrating each other's differences. Our school is a Title I school where all of the students receive free breakfast and lunch. Our families, homes, traditions and cultures are diverse and we enjoy that about each other.

In our classroom, we work hard every day on both our academic and social goals.

These students are quick to remind you that "making mistakes mean you're learning, and if you're not learning then Ms. Snead doesn't have a job!". We value the opportunity to grow and make mistakes in a safe environment.

My Project

Our classroom focuses on engaging instruction and learning how to use tools and strategies to help regulate our emotions.

The soft seating choices give my students ownership of their learning by providing them with the flexibility to work in the classroom in a space that's best for them.

The sensory shapes serve multiple purposes. Shapes are a big math target in first grade and sensory tools are one of our class' favorite way to regulate ourselves if we are feeling a bit excited or anxious.

The file folder games will help literacy stations be targeted and engaging while allowing differentiation of instruction to smaller groups.
