I work as a 3rd grade resource teacher at Gregory Elementary in Wilmington, NC. In my classroom, my students work together as a team to beat those EOGs! My classroom is a little different from others in that there are no desks. Instead, we have round or long tables. This is great for group work; however, when it comes to individual work it is a little tough. I would like for my children to have the opportunity to use mini-dry erase boards to physically show me that they understand a concept. I think that they would be best used in math but I can definitely see how they would be convenient in Social Studies as well. I think the children would use them because they are "cool" and without embarrassing themselves by saying an incorrect answer they could show me that they don't understand something from the work on the board. Time is something that my math groups definitely don't have. My classroom is located in a different building and in the process of walking twenty or so 8 year olds to and from the building we lose 10 minutes (5 minutes each way). And to top it off, we only have an hour to begin with. Why am I telling you this? I am telling you this because with the mini dry-erase boards my children won't lose the extra 5-8 minutes at the beginning of every class to try to find a pencil and a piece of paper. Instead, these boards could be waiting for them with their small markers and erasers.
