My Project

I teach at a school that teaches career electives to students who come from public schools all around our large district. Next year, I will be teaching a new course that focuses on designing websites and creating content for digital media. Students will have the opportunity to earn industry-based credentials in web design and video editing. Because of the nature of the course material, students spend a lot of time looking at screens!

Students need non-digital materials to give their eyes a break!

Research shows that for every two hours of screen use, our eyes need 10-15 minutes of rest from screens.

This project will provide my students with fidgets, puzzles, coloring sheets, and other creative outlets to give their eyes, and sometimes their brains, a break! Writing code for websites can be very frustrating, especially when you feel stuck. Sometimes the best way to move forward is to walk away from the computer and think about something else for awhile! These materials will help encourage my students to take breaks when they need to!
