Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My gentlemen are smart, hardworking, and brilliant. Our team consists of multi-level players. Our school is a Title I school, meaning that 100% of our students receive free or reduced-priced lunch. Our school is located in a high-poverty neighborhood. My players work very hard every day. Our team has a 98% attendance rate, which means the students rarely miss school. We value our playing time.

Many of my players come from single-parent homes where I am the only male figure they may see a day.

On our team, we blend our traditions to form strong community ties. In addition, approximately 25% of our students are homeless. Although their personal backgrounds put them at a disadvantage they bring their smiles into the classroom every day.

My Project

It is sad to go to our field and it is overgrown. Students will be able to have a reliable mower to keep their baseball field looking nice. The bagger is necessary when mowing an infield. The players will get to have ownership in preparing their field and feel the pride of having other teams play here when they host a game.

I feel this mower will really help our ball team to keep their grounds looking nice.

It will make it so much more convenient for the coaches and players to use the mower when it belongs to the school and is stored at the school. These students will have a few years to benefit from this mower before graduating. This sport keep our low-income students from mischief, and helps us guide them down the right path! Providing a new lawnmower will be the largest rebound for sports programs at our school, therefore changing our students' lives. The smile these students will have after seeing that a little faith goes a long way sometimes will be worth every minute I've ever spent teaching!
