Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are hard-working, creative souls. They come from a high-poverty neighborhood. Each student is generous with donating their time to school activities and fundraisers. They care, and it shows.

My students love to perform for their family and friends.

Every student in the school will perform throughout the year whether they are in chorus or not. They work hard to prepare their pieces.

This is the best school I've ever worked in. Most of our students are very well behaved and are working to set goals for their life. They demonstrate personal responsibility, lead by example, and will change the narrative of their community.

My Project

I'm always looking for a fun way to have the kids learn notation. Our special students can read the numbers and recognize the melodies. We have five of these drums already, and they are very popular!

It would be wonderful to have an entire 30-minute concert that is only tongue drums.

I'm thinking a summer-themed concert just before their summer break would be awesome.

Our students with Autism can tolerate the sound much better than a loud drum or recorder as well.

All in all, a great way to include students from all backgrounds and limitations.
