This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
The students at our school come from multicultural, multilingual, and multi-socioeconomic backgrounds. Our classrooms range from ones that have advanced students, second language learners, struggling students, students with special needs, and everything in between.
Our diversity is what makes our school as unique as the world language we offer for foreign language credit: American Sign Language (ASL).
Our school is the only one in our district that offers ASL, and the only one within 30 miles of any other district.
My Project
Many students need to use our color printer for their essays, projects, and presentations. Having access to one in a classroom helps cut down on the need to go to a print shop. Our students also often use file cabinets to store their work. The cabinets we now have are broken and need replacement. These new ones also have a lock to provide a safe place for students to store items like their new tablets and laptops. Since our classroom was broken into before, it would be nice to have a place to lock our valuables, including the new technology we are attempting to purchase for our new classroom!
