My 3rd grade classroom consists of 14 inquisitive and bright young learners. We utilize learning centers for Language Arts, Math, and Science. We use technology to enhance our learning and remediate when needed. Technology allows me to differentiate instruction easily and efficiently.
My classroom is located in Ormond Beach, Florida and consists of 14 eager, inquisitive, and bright young learners.
In spite of the high poverty rate in Florida (50% of students are on free or reduced lunch), our school does not receive additional funding from the federal government that would normally provide technology for our students to utilize in our school district. In today's day and age, it is imperative that our students are given the opportunity to use technology in order to prepare them for the future. We have so many online resources at our fingertips, but we are lacking the technological devices that would allow our students to apply their knowledge in this manner. My students deserve the best education possible and with your help, we can make sure that they have all of the resources necessary to achieve anything!
My Project
Digital learning offers a unique ability to provide educational experiences that are customized for each student. As my students advance in programs such as FrontRow, Raz-Kids, and IXL, I can track their individual progress, identify specific areas of focus for each student with actual data to back it up, and provide accurate remediation and/or enrichment that addresses their specific needs. My students thrive most in situations where their educational experience has been customized to their unique needs, and digital learning provides teachers like me with the tools and opportunity to offer individualized learning programs.
Preparing my students by meeting their individual needs and allowing them access to technology will allow them to grow and learn so much more throughout the course of the year.
Studies have shown that students using technology as an education tool become more engaged in the process and more interested in growing their knowledge base -- in some cases, to the point that they don't even realizing they're actively learning.
