Our school supports approximately 120 students from 20 surrounding school districts; including rural schools. We have created a brand-new art program for our students in the 2018-2019 school year.
My school serves K-12 students with various disabilities, behavioral, and learning needs.
Every child has capabilities, talents, and strengths; sometimes, all it takes is exposure, motivation, and extra support to make a difference! The art program is designed to allow them another avenue to express themselves; as their ability to communicate feelings and needs may be limited.
We have an amazing staff that is always looking to make a difference in the lives of our students and their families. Thank you for your support!
My Project
As the very first art program at this K-12 school, it is my goal to expose my students to new art mediums and techniques.
Working at a school with students with special needs and behaviors, I believe that art will be the outlet the students need to express themselves.
The students have a wide range of abilities and interests, therefore I have selected various materials to help each student to become successful artists.
The paper cutter will allow me to cut paper for multiple projects throughout the year, as well as teaching high school students to mat their own artwork. The class packs and classroom sets will allow for students to access different materials during the whole school year. Several students have shown interests in watercolor, painting, shading, sketching, and coloring detailed coloring pages. After learning the interests of my students, I ordered the necessary supplies to allow each student to learn and grow. Lastly, I ordered printing supplies, which will introduce my students to a new, fun medium and technique.
These materials will be a step forward in creating an art program to engage each student with their diverse backgrounds and needs.
