I am so excited and feel extremely grateful to be starting my first year as a VPK teacher/director. I love working with preschoolers, and seeing how their eyes light up when I have taught them something new. I have two classes, a morning session and an afternoon session giving me a total of 40 students. Each and every one of them are special and silly in their own unique way. They are so eager every day to learn new things and be a part of fun and exciting activities. Giving them a great first experience to school is one of my biggest goals. When they find out that learning is fun, they are excited to come to school every day. I believe this excitement for learning will create future academic success.
My Project
The students in my class currently sit at 4 different tables; 3 round tables that hold 6 children, and a smaller table that only holds two children. It is my goal to have all the children sitting in large groups together at the table sharing stories and experiences. I am asking for donations to gain 3 large rectangular tables that seat up to 8 children per table. With this many seats available at each table, the children will have many options on where to sit, and they will all have many friends to talk to. Early communication and social interaction with peers can boost a child’s self-esteem, and help with their speech development. Please help my class gain these important social and emotional skills.
