My students need an area rug for the floor to gather for their direct instruction lessons and collaborate as a whole class during other times of the day.
My students come from diverse backgrounds. Mine is a 100% free/reduced-price lunch school, and more than three-quarters of the students come from low-income, high poverty backgrounds.
School is often the safe place for students to come for a warm meal, a friendly smile, and positive attention in their lives.
When my students are at school, they love to learn, explore, and teach each other.
With limited resources in our district, we are often unable to purchase items that students need to maximize their learning, explore the world around them, and challenge themselves.
My Project
We are in desperate need of an area to gather to do our direct instruction lessons for spelling and reading as well as a place to collaborate and work during math, science, and social skills as a whole class.
With this area rug, we would be able to gather as a class to complete our lessons, collaborate on ideas, and work together as a whole class.
I have chosen this rug specifically because of the size. It is large enough to handle bigger classes and smaller classes. The material isn't itchy so students won't be bothered when they are sitting and learning. My students and myself collaborate often as a class but it often gets confusing when it comes to where to sit. with this rug, it enables the students to find a spot on the outside of the rug, so we can work together!
