"The best preparation for tomorrow is doing your best today"
The quote from Brown is something that I remind my 6th graders of on a daily basis. I tell them that they ARE smart, that they ARE able to work hard and that ARE capable of wonderful things. I tell them that their job is to do good in school and that they need to do their best so that they can be successful in 7th grade and every grade after that.
People ask me what my students are like and my response is this-- " It looks like a small scoop of America." Imagine a room full of children with different religions, ethniticies, different family and economic backgrounds. Most speak English but for some, it's their second language. Also, some students are incredibly shy while others can't stop talking. It's a beautiful chaos of diversity!
Aesop says, "No act of kindness no matter how small, is ever wasted." With that being said, I want to thank you for taking the time to read about my students, our project and everything I have planned for my 6th graders.
With gratitude~Mrs. T
My Project
I am asking for expo markers because my students use them when working on various Math problems. Currently we are working on a statistics unit which has us finding the interquartile range and other measures of data, such as the mean, median, mode and range. Another item I requested was large white paper so that my students can continue creating "cell cities" which illustrates the functions of organelles and how they relate to the various functions of a city. For example, the nucleus could be a government building because like the nucleus it sends off information to the other organelles just like the government.
I think every classroom should be engaging because learning IS fun!
I believe that every classroom should have supplies so that children can explore, create and showcase their learning. Having these supplies will help motivate my students and will continue their learning while in the 6th grade. Thank you for supporting my classroom, my students and our learning! With these supplies we will accomplish learning our measures of data and how all of the organelles function within the cell.
