A typical day in my classroom is full of adventure! We are constantly exploring, creating, and collaborating together so we are rarely sitting still. My students have a desire to learn, and it is my goal to help them succeed beyond expectations.
The students in my classroom come from a wide variety of backgrounds and speak multiple languages.
It is my job to ensure that all of my students have a chance to be successful. Each child who walks through the doors of my class is given the opportunity to learn in a hands-on, exciting, and active way regardless of their circumstances.
My Project
I need books to help build our classroom library so that I can engage every reader. National Geographic Kids informational books are in high demand in our class! I do not have enough for every reader. I would love to add more National Geographic Kids books to our classroom library to give my students more of the books that they love to read. I am also requesting classic fairy tale books & 'fractured' fairy tale books to use during our fairy tale unit in 2nd grade. My class will love having different versions of fairy tales to compare!
I am requesting 34 high interest books to help challenge & grow the readers in my classroom.
All of the students in my class will be able to enjoy these books, even my reluctant readers! I plan to use these books daily during our Reading Workshop. Students will be able to choose books from our classroom library to read during independent reading time. Having books that interest all readers will help to keep the whole class engaged while promoting learning and a love of reading. Students will also be able to use these books during our Writer’s Workshop. Students will be able to write book reviews, engage in reading responses, & use information from the nonfiction books for research writing.
