Seventeen energetic students make up my class this year. We love reading together, discovering new things, and working with hands-on materials. Our class is very close-knit and are always looking for ways to show kindness to others. There's nothing like watching students encouraging each other to strengthen their weaknesses. We work together to become strong readers and develop our literacy skills.
There is nothing more heartwarming than witnessing that ‘aha’ moment when a student realizes that they can read!
While many of our students are excelling at reading, others need some additional support, which is where you come in! My Project
Hot Dots are a great way to encourage struggling readers. These tools allow students to read independently with the resources to help them if they get stuck on a tricky or unknown word. The benefit of using Hot Dots in an early childhood classroom is that they give the child the opportunity to figure out an unknown word without giving it away immediately, as a book on tape would. Students are given the chance to try their best and the resources to assist them if they get stuck. This will help struggling readers to feel confident during independent reading time.
