Help me give my students portable dvd external drives so that we can preserve their work and not be overly dependent year-after-year on expensive online subscriptions.

My Students

Many of our students are English Language Learners and are more engaged when realia and technology are joined with text, ideas, and creativity. They love to research ideas, test for validity and answers, as well as engage in thought provoking ideas and questions to collaborate, create presentations or slide shows to share their ideas. The issue is that we always face the threat of losing our licenses for online videos and images year after year. As the lead teacher on this project, we are all in need of DVD players that we can connect to our computers in order to share science videos that are not only pre-made from a publisher, but that the students make and we can continue to share year after year.

We are a Title I school and our ESL students struggle to meet Common Core Standards due to having limited English skills and academic vocabulary.

My Project

Year after Year, the teachers at our school face challenges in delivering lessons and accessing appropriate images and videos with ever changing technology. While the machines will change, without question, the price to possess information will undoubtedly continue to rise.

Additionally, there's no guarantee that next year, or the following one, we will receive funding to continue any online subscriptions, but more importantly the price to store exemplary student work is also an enormous concern going forward.

We not only use DVD videos from professional publishers, but recording student work for future generations to reference in researching and developing their own work and ideas is another reason why we need these DVD players for every child and every classroom.
