Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Twenty-four pairs of little hands will be using our one and only iPad 2 to take their Accelerated Reader tests. A cover with a built-in keyboard will project it for years to come. The pencils and dry erase markers are essential supplies that will help my complete their assignments.
Even though my third grade students come from a low socio-economic community and are faced with educational challenges, they exhibit tremendous academic potential.
We are a Title 1 school - 100% of our students qualify for free lunch. There is a high percentage of English language learners. We have made significant gains on the state tests, but continue to be identified as a Program Improvement School due to the low test scores of our English language learners. My class ranges from students with learning disabilities to high achievers, all enrolled in a single Structured English Immersion class. Scores will improve once students discover that reading empowers their mind. Please help my students become better readers by enabling them to take the Accelerated Reader Tests in the comfort of their classroom when they are finished reading a book.
My Project
The protective cover with a built-in keyboard will allow my students to take the Accelerated Reader tests in their classroom as soon as they finish reading a book. The keyboard will make it easier for students to type in their answers. It will also preserve the touch screen on our iPad. Additionally, my students will be able to publish their creative writing, poetry, and reports. The pencils will be used to reward students for their efforts in strengthening their reading skills and helping them to sharpen their writing skills. The dry erase markers are a basic necessity that will be utilized by both the teacher and students on a daily basis throughout the year.
My students enjoy working on our iPad.
A cover with a keyboard will protect it from getting damaged. Students will be able to type their reports, stories, and poems much faster. More importantly, they will have easy access to the Accelerated Reader tests at their convenience in the comfort of our classroom. My goal is to encourage them to read because as the saying goes, "Today a Reader, Tomorrow a Leader." Thanks for making a difference in the education of my students.
