Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students walk into the classroom every day full of optimism and ready to learn. They are kind, hard working, inquisitive, and passionate. I am in awe of their resilience and am so incredibly lucky to have each and every one of them in my classroom!
The 30 high-fives, handshakes, and hugs that greet me every morning inspire me to do everything I can to give these amazing children the best education possible.
Teaching at a Title I school, my students face several challenges both inside and outside of the classroom on a regular basis. I am looking to provide an engaging student-centered classroom experience that encourages learning and keeps my students relaxed.
My Project
Third and fourth grade is such a magical time for learners - they are able to read independently, explore new genres, comprehend more challenging texts, and start reading chapter books! My students read every single day at school and your donation would help to expand our classroom library. The books from this project will be used on a regular basis for independent reading, class read alouds, book reports, and many other projects.
My students need a wide variety of books that reflect their diverse backgrounds to help them develop a passion for reading.
Every individual that steps into my classroom has a unique background, culture, and belief system. It is my goal to fill my classroom library with books where children can deeply connect to the characters and plot. In addition, introducing my class to many different types of texts (graphic novels, fiction and nonfiction, multicultural books, etc.) will improve fluency and comprehension. I truly believe that promoting literacy will benefit my students for the rest of their lives.
