Help me give my students have a plethora of novels to choose from as we attempt to help them realize the importance of reading and how rewarding it actually is.
Junior High and High School is arguably the most impactful time in a student's life. They are experiencing change in so many aspects. They often don't know who they are and use this time in their lives to choose a path, good or bad. Many of my students deal with situations that no one should have to endure, let alone a child, and the strength to defy those odds is what makes my students incredible.
My students believe that our classroom is a safe place for them to come and feel as if they belong.
They leave their burdens outside the door and come in ready to immerse in the learning that is to take place. We face battles and barriers; my no means is our classroom perfect, but we strive everyday to make the best of what we have. We build relationships; we focus on kindness; we work to make the environment an inviting one.
The best part about my classroom is who I share it with. These students bring so many different personalities and backgrounds to the table and they deserve the best chance to learn as much as possible.
My Project
Reading is something I have always been passionate about, and sharing my love for reading with others has been a life goal. Many people do not enjoy reading because they have been forced to read novels for grades and not for enjoyment. This year in my English classes, I have decided to try giving my students the freedom to choose the books they want to read and with that being said, I need to have the resources available to allow them to find a book they will enjoy.
The world belongs to those who read, and my students deserve the world.
By donating the novels I have included here, you will be opening my students up to a whole new world of reading. My students chose the novels I have included because they WANT to read them. They have a desire to dive into the stories that these novels contain. My students do not have access to these books outside of school and our school library is too small to give them the range of choice they deserve.
I hope that you will consider helping give my students access to the world that is out there for them.
