Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are creative, caring, respectful, ambitious inquirers full of energy, ready to change the world. They love learning and are unafraid to take risks. Their favorite activities are those where they are able to collaborate with peers in hands-on activities.
My goal is to create an environment that will allow students to regularly collaborate and promote student agency.
Many of my students come from low-income households or unfortunate home situations; yet, somehow they still have a strong desire to become knowledgeable and caring young people who will help create a better and more peaceful world.
My Project
Our shelves are in desperate need of new and updated books. My students are active readers who love to devour books that capture their attention. These books will continue to enhance the modern library that I strive to create. My classroom library is a place that my students really enjoy and that I strongly encourage them to visit throughout the school day. My students love to explore new authors and genres and become emersed in the stories that they read. All of these books have been chosen with my students in mind. I have determined which books to complete my library based on the books that are most often taken out at the school library. I would love to have the ability to provide these titles in my classroom library. Students will be able to choose books, which will help them continue to enjoy their independent reading and push many students to falling in love with reading.

With these new books, my students will be able to choose books that interest them. They will also be able to choose from a wide variety of current authors and titles. Studies have shown that the best way to increase reading ability is to read more. I strongly believe that this project will help enrich their experiences and love for reading.
