Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are enthusiastic learners and love learning more about the world around them through literature and composition. Most of my students are from low socioeconomic backgrounds in the city of Lawrence, MA. Lawrence has a rich history and thriving, multicultural community.
Through this reading program, I hope to help my students not only recognize the amazing stories in their community of Lawrence but also feel connected to the rest of the world through inspiring and life-changing stories.
Thank you for helping my students meet their amazing potential!
My Project
This year, they will have the chance to participate and compete in an independent reading challenge throughout the school year. This program not only helps our students close the achievement gap through access to quality grade appropriate texts but also opens up worlds of adventure and excitement! In order for this program to be a success, we are in need of quality, grade level appropriate books that will empower our students and give them courage to tell their own unique stories.
The books provided will become a library of opportunity so my students can experience remarkable adventures right in our classroom.
