Welcome to our classroom! As you enter our learning zone, you will see 26 energetic fifth-graders young and vibrant minds at work. You will hear conversations of encouragement, book talks, and questions that share their natural curiosity of the world around them.
We are a high needs and high poverty school district with 60% of our kids considered low income.
Many of my students are being raised in a single parent household and qualify for free and reduced lunch or a food bag to take home over the weekend. These hardships are examples of the difficulties that these champion students have to overcome and persevere through. The determination of some to rise above their circumstances is not only motivational but inspiring.
My Project
These books will make a huge difference for my students. They need engaging and rich literature to spark their love of reading. My students do not always have books that are readily available to them at home. So it is my job to bring the necessary resources they need to them. My students come from poverty, and they do not always have encouraging parents to guide them in the right direction pertaining to their education. So please help me be their advocate in their education and their advocate in teaching them how to be lifelong readers. Because readers are leaders!
