Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are a mix of 6th, 7th, and 8th graders.
I am a special education teacher who works with students from low-income families.
Most of my students are English language learners. Our school does not have a library, so it is difficult to entice students to read when they do not have the resources. That is why I want to have a Resource Lab library in our classroom so our students can explore different types of text. Students will also be able to continue their reading at home by checking out the books.
My Project
Most of my students come from low-income families, therefore, they do not have the money to buy books to their children. I am special education teacher in a resource lab classroom. My students have academic and social deficits. Everyday I encourage my students to read so they could increase their vocabulary and expand their knowledge. I know having a variety of books will expose them to a world of literature.
Unfortunately, my school site is a small building so we do not have space for a school library.
Having a resource lab library in the classroom will allow students to choose high quality books and check them out so they can continue their reading at home.
