My goal this year is to get every one of my students to love reading.
I have a very diverse group of 3rd graders this year.
Several of them do not enjoy reading because they do not think they are good at it. It is sad that they think their identity is also their reading level. If they aren't on grade level they think they have less worth. With the materials being requested I hope to boost my student's confidence level and reading skills and teach them that they are worth more.
My Project
I want to show my students that reading is a wonderful adventure.
They need to be given confidence and the ability to know that no matter where they are on the reading scale there is something for them to read and enjoy!
This project would make a huge difference for my students.
Reading is thinking. Reading lets us live many different lives and have many different adventures. My students are ready to build their reading lives by being able to take adventures that they can only imagine! The ability to open a book and go anywhere you want is something every person should be able to experience!
