Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My fifth graders are beyond amazing! They are a diverse, curious, energetic group who are learning to become great leaders. Students in my classroom are in the Dual Language Program. This is a bilingual program that provides students opportunities to receive instruction in two languages, English and Spanish. The goal is for students to attain bilingualism and biliteracy in both languages. It also encourages students to become better citizens. They learn about cultures around the world and develop respect for those cultures.
My students are academic competitors and love being challenged.
They enjoy projects and presentations that integrate the use of technology. I am proud to say that they are always willing to help and encourage each other in and out of the classroom. They also are quite the comedians and bring a smile to my face each day. I wouldn’t have it any other way!
My Project
The materials I am requesting for my class are for every day use. The wobble cushion and yoga seat will give my students more options for flexible seating. They love being able to sit on these especially on long test days.
Thinking is messy and my students love to solve mathematical solutions on their desks with dry erase markers.
The dry erase erasers come in handy as they make corrections to their problems and the Clorox wipes help them clean up/sanitize for the next day.
I have also requested pencils for every day use. Having extra pencils for students is a must and the students really appreciate being able to borrow pencils without being questioned as to why they do not have a pencil.
