My Students

The students in my 4th grade classroom live in a diverse, low socioeconomic community and thrive on hands-on learning. Our students learn best through personalized learning.

My goal as a teacher is to help my students experience what they learn by visiting and seeing their learning in real world experiences!

Our students are so excited to go to a city they have not been before or may not every get to visit outside of school. This city has state officials they have learned about in class.

My Project

This is a trip that our students talk about for years! They are so excited to go! After visiting the capitol building, the Supreme Court building, Jefferson Landing, the Governor's Mansion, and the Highway Patrol Museum, the students write a reflection about their experience. This reflection is used not only to improve our trip the next time, but also to share with next year's students to get them excited as well. This trip is one that a lot of the students at our school would never get to experience if not through a during the day field trip funded by the school.
