This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am proud to say that I am 3rd grade teacher to some of the best students in Houston, TX! I teach at a Title I campus where many of my students are faced with obstacles and challenges that cause them to struggle both inside and outside of the classroom, yet they still persevere. My students are so full of energy and always eager to learn. They enter my classroom each day with the desire to expand their minds and explore the world of knowledge that exist around them.
My purpose is to continuously push them to strive for excellence and reach for the stars in spite of the circumstances that they may currently face.
Academic growth is our primary focus, so that they are motivated to reach their maximum potential.
I may not be able to change their current situation outside of our school doors but I can definitely establish a pleasant environment and an enriching learning experience throughout each day we have in class. I do this with the hopes that it will plant a seed in them that will one day blossom into a multitude of opportunities and success.
My Project
I believe technology is a major component of academic success. Having Chromebooks accessible in our classroom will instantly provide differentiated instruction and research opportunities for my students. They will be able to use these Chromebooks and wireless mice in their daily centers to guide their instruction based on their individual levels and needs with websites like; Education Galaxy, Kahoot, Imagine Math, and many more. These educational sites help me identify the students learning goals and provides the student the ability to develop their weakness by giving individualized targeted lessons. It will also allow my student to further advance with their STEM experience through research. Giving each student the opportunity to focus and grow academically at his or her own speed and comfort level .
I can use these Chromebooks to foster my students' learning abilities and self-confidence.
This in turn, will enhance our learning environment by meeting the needs of each student whether working independently or collaboratively with their peers.
It is very important for students to be accountable for their educational success and having technology available will only increase their possibilities.
