High School band is a special place where students learn to work together for the common purpose to create something beautiful. Together we make incredible music that is enjoyed by thousands of individuals throughout the school year in both marching band and concert band settings.
The band becomes like a family where students feel accepted for who they are.
We strive to create a culture where students feel safe and loved, and they therefore strive to find their own greatness within.
My Project
The last time we purchased new drums and harnesses for our school was during the 2001-2002 school year, making our current drums 18 years old. Our percussion instructor has worked tirelessly over the past 19 years to keep our drums in tip top shape, as the average lifespan is 10 years for a drum line. Our current harnesses are past the point of being able to repair them, and we've realized it's time to replace them.
By purchasing new harnesses for the drum line and eventually recovering drums we are hoping to bring new life to what we already have.
This will be a good savings for us as consumers as well as good for the environment by up-cycling rather than purchasing all new goods.
To have a successful marching band program, having adequate equipment is crucial. As the title says, in marching band "To Play the Drums, You Have to Carry Them!" I know these carriers will be appreciated and well cared for as our last set lasted far beyond the average lifespan.
